You will need to contact Account Management directly. Removing credit card information from an account without replacing it with alternate information will result in a permanent deactivation of an account (this does mean that the account CAN NOT be reinstated at a later date under any circumstances). If you are worried about security, I would recommend getting a prepaid credit card that you can control the maximum amount on the card by depositing money as an alternate payment method for your account.

It is pretty common for retailers to hold your information forever. I have on several occasions gone to buy something online from someplace only to discover that they had my info (including cc# on file). Only after reviewing my records to discover that I had in fact bought something years earlier. So it is not uncommon.

You have several options:
1) call up Turbine billing and ask them to remove your account, but that way pretty much erases all your characters and stuff.
2) Go to walmart or someplace and get a pre-paid card. Change your account info at Turbine billing to add the new card. Go spend the pre-paid cash somewhere else.
3) THis is the best way :) Change your Turbine billing to a Card that you seldom use. Then cancel the card and chop it up :)

Ideally you would change cc numbers every few years. Call the cc company tell them you lost your card and want them to issue you a new card and number.
