I'm having an issue which has been driving me nuts since I resubbed a few days ago.
I'm using the same router, and 2 of the same computers I was using when I last had everything working smoothly. I'm trying to dual box on the same LAN, and I'll either be unable to connect on one of my computers, or I'll be able to connect and then get booted off after about 5 minutes. Here's the details :
-I've set Ports 9000-9004 to be forwarded in my router for Computer_1's IP address. This is for TCP and UDP traffic.
-I've set Ports 9006-9010 to be forwarded in my router for Computer_2's IP address, again for TCP and UDP.
-Computer_1 is set to use Port 9000, and Computer_2 is set to use port 9006.
-When I try to log in the second computer, I get to the character selection screen and then when I try to log in, I just get a blank HUD and then I'll yellow link, red link and then get a "connection lost" message.
-I've tried different combinations of the 4 systems I have, just in case it was a computer specific issue
-Using a D-link WBR-1310, XP Pro SP3 on 2 systems, XP Media Center SP3 on another 2
I have tried forwarding the three ranges of ports described in the AC Knowledgebase for BOTH IP addresses...then set each to use different ports. I then tried the same thing, but didn't assign them to use a specific port.
Sometimes when I'm even only using one computer, I'll get kicked off after a bit over an hour. There won't be any forewarning yellow/red link, just straight to "your connection to the server has been lost" message. I won't be able to get past the second blue bar after this when trying to log back in. When I change the assigned port from say 9000 to 9001, it lets be sign back on until the same thing happens again, and I change the port again.
I'm led to believe that this may be an issue with my router...OR my ISP doesn't like the kind of traffic it sees on whatever port my router has forwarded to, and it blocks it. They do this for any P2P traffic on my systems, so I have to randomize the port often.
I'm going to see about picking up a new router today (yay employee discounts), but I wanted to see if anyone else had any insight in case that's not the issue.
