Ok, so I am in the army, and I am in Iraq. I am trying to resub my old account I haven't played in years, and I am getting an error code when I try to update my grossly outdated billing info. I searched up the code on the support troubleshooting, and it says the code is given when trying to subscribe from a location (assuming they track location via IP) other than your billing location.

Well played.

So it says the solution is to contact customer service presumably as a safety precaution so some dirtbag in Beijing or something doesn't try to steal my credit card and play some very outdated MMO. Highly likely!

So I sent an email in to customer support, before I found out they had to be called, and then I tried to call (Quite a feat from Iraq sometimes.) only to find out the 4-8:30pm EST support time. Holy cow!

Ok, not a big deal I guess, 4pm-830pm EST is 2300-0330. I am on night shift, but I managed to find a pay phone on my lunch (If eggs at 1am can be called lunch) break. No dice, apparently, in addition to very limited hours, Turbine doesn't work weekends anymore. Sweet.

And what's this on the front page? The game will be down all day on monday to move data centers, presumeably the account and billing servers will be moved that day as well, so even if I could get ahold of Mr. Customer Support with another 1am call, he would likely be unable to help me anyway.

So I wait till Tuesday. I think I'll go clean my M4.

I feel for you, just want to let you know that even if you get ahold of 'Mr. Customer Service' you are likely to have a long, long time on hold. Peeps report a wait anywhere from 10 min, to several hours at a stretch. Not even able to connect to a live body sometimes in the 'open' hours of service. Sorry to tell you that, cause you being on lunch break and all. Maybe someone on staff will feel sorry for you and contact you via email and work something out for you.
Hopefully so.
What about it Frelorn? would something like that be possible?

So I've read. I expected as much. Would be nice to get this worked out through email. Otherwise, I can only hope that I get lucky and catch Mr. Customer Support when he isn't in the middle of a gripping round of Madden. :P

I am installing the patches now via a trial account. Maybe I will play around on that until I can submit billing info for my old account.

Oddly enough, it required my debit card info to create a trial account, and the trial account sign up page didn't care about my Iraqi IP address not matching my Hawaii billing address. Strange.

Good example of how it NOT should work Turbine ....... I know easy to say from here, but please improve the custom service !!!!

Zrael I keep my fingers crossed with the Free Trial account, but from what I read, you probably get in. Please feel free to come to Solclaim, a good server to be !!!

Strange. People on Solclaim have been saying it was usless calling Turbine. The fastest way to solve problems was to send an e-mail. In any event resubscribing an old account is notoriously difficult.

I got an email from Turbine when I came home from work tonight. My account is reinstated and "updated" so that the issue will not happen again, so they say. Good stuff.

Problem now is, the same I had with the trial account, I can log into my account, I click on Morningthaw and it loads the game, and shows all my old toons! (Woohoo!) but when I click on one, it loads the GUI, with the game area black, and the cursor turns into a hourglass, and it just sits there, doing nothing for a few minutes, and says "Connection to the server has been lost."

Wierd, I am obviously connecting to the server, it shows all my characters and lets me click on them...

I am running with no third party firewall, windows firewall disabled, and no AV installed at all. Windows vista x64. Not sure what could be causing this, I emailed the ISP we have out here. "Sniper Hill" ( http://www.sniperhill.com/ ) and they said they do not block any ports or anything, although the internet is satelite based, which AC doesn't seem to "support", although, it seems like it SHOULD work anyway. There are a few guys in my unit who play WoW so I don't see what the issue really could be.

I looked this up in the support troubleshooting and found nothing refering to getting hung while logging into the world itself, just alot of stuff able people be hung at blue vials, and things of that nature.

I really want to play! And now that my account is activated and I can SEE my old characters in the character list, I am really fiending. :P
