View Full Version : Give us a reason to PvP, some ideas

I'm revising my idea to make PvP better, after speaking with a few long time players. I'll be a little more specific this time. All this is easily do-able with the current tech and will be countless hours of fun for all.

-Add a new island, not a huge island but one that would take maybe 2 minutes to run from edge to edge.
-Add 6 entry portals (To prevent camping) all around the outer edge.
-In the middle have a plate people can stand on.
-Everytime you touch the plate you get a 15 minute spell cast on you that remains on you whether you die or recall.
-Every 15 minutes the guild that has the most people standing on the plate wins
-People in solid fellows can easily make 30 million xp an hour so you need to make the reward for this similar.
-Give the players who have the Buff and are in the winning guild 10 million xp (Equivalent of 40 mil xp an hour if it's held)
-Design the island so there's 6 defendable choke points, for defending the island, ambushes etc.

-Make it so if you log in while on the island you are returned to your lifestone, and your spell wears off.
-Make it so only Reds can use the island.

Reasons people would use this island.

-People crave money and power. In Red PvP power = experience
-XP chains are being removed this would give people a chance to PvP for their experience which is what they are actually playing the game for.
-It shouldn't take very long to code this, and it will be countless hours of fun for all reds, and most likely increase your profit margins a ton as people reopen their accounts.

I thought the reason for playing darktide was for the challenge of a harder game after the white servers got to easy to be fun anymore.

Like Diablo 2 Hardcore it’s just like normal but you only have 1 life.
You get a lot more wow's from a Max level 99 characters on Hardcore then you do on normal

I don’t think Darktide has a full Maxed out character on the whole server.

But you can find more then 1 on every other server.

About making Darktide different has that ever happened its just to much work to program and test 2 separate versions every month the only reason thy can have Darktide is the way you enter and exit PK mode. I would think that your PK setting on Darktide is stored the same way as other servers just the unPK quest does not work and the servers Default char creation mode is PK.

You misunderstand, I'm talking a way to improve Red play on all servers. It gives people who want a reason to fight on every server something to do besides the endless levelling treamills, and boring quests vs. NPC monsters.

When you look at Tiger Woods Golf online (Or NFL Gameday, any consol game) do you want to compete with another player vs a computer opponent, or do you choose to compete?

You can never design a monster with AI that gives a fair challenge, and why doyou need to when there's 500 other players looking for a challenge.

I agree that there should be something available worth fighting for. Not only does it make for some more exciting gameplay but will have social aspects as well. Those who can control will attract recruits. Those who can't win may seek to make alliances to be able to win.

Sounds pretty cool. I'd love to see some sort of 'King of the Hill' (not the show:P) style game. I would def. love to see something like this implemented!

I think getting xp while you fight is a bad idea. That's kind of the point of it. You have to do them separately, and if you run into an enemy while you are hunting, you have to defend your place or hand it over. They shouldn't come together in one package.

The capture the flag idea is good. Someone suggested just making random locations in the game have a switch that sends a message that some guild has taken it, and people go fight over it just to control it. Just gives an objective to a fight.

Some type of place you could recall to just to fight would be nice, but I think it would be better if we had actual things to fight OVER instead of places just for the sake of fighting.

Its a uber Id but ppl will exploid it like when no one is online , 2 friends will go there and kill each other makin 10 mill a 15 min,,, i can imagen how nice it is to get 10 mill every 15 min on my tinker mule that cant do much lol.


Other than that its cewl.

Theres a nother prob tho, real pk (RED ) has died on almost all servers (but Dt) since pklite kicked in , On Mt we have like 2 full red players and they are never on lol.
So this should probebly be pklite :confused:

Technically that wouldn't be an exploit since the whole point of the idea is to toss out xp to those willing to fight for it.

I can almost guarentee it would be a 24 hour non stop battle.

If a solo tinkerer could win it I'd be very suprised :)

In off hours you'd probably see it held by 10 - 15 people instead of 35 - 50 people at primetime.

DT has this game (Ulgrims *cough*) but it would be cool to see a pk only version on the white servers.

The problem is that it would make people think you could go PK just to make xp, and that is what they would do if it was actually a worthwhile amount. And on top of that, ANYTHING that involves people killing eachother for xp WILL be exploited, surely to some drastic level. I think thats why there is no "reward" item that you can loot off of people of any kind, despite the years of asking for anything at all.
