I remember it was talked about in a dev chat or something sometime between 02-04

Was wondering if it ever came back up since then and if it's any closer to happening?

What it was, a 'mannequin' you hook on a floor hook in your house. When you double click it it brings up the interface like a chest with 14 slots, and you drop armor items in it and they display like they would if you were wearing it. The slots are coded to accept the same configurations as normal armors.

Hi,

I've been playing with the template generator and even though I just used all my skill redistribution to get 2 handed weapons... i found that I want to totally re-arrange my template.

Abuse: changing per quest too quickly.

Solution: Once a month, we should be able to totally respec our skills... or something. I used to play a mage a long time ago and as a returning player,... I can't level up another newbie cause I can't hang with the xp grind.

I have since I've started my account, slowly edging away from AC. I probably shoulda started on DF but my point is there is no more (role playing), so we should be able to switch in and out of templates in a timely manner that doesn't cause abuse.

i remembered your letter to players last summer.

so far we have seen gear trinkets.

that letter from last summer mentioned new socketable weapons and armors made me think of Diablos II, but after 10th year patch released, it turn out what i wasnt expected, it seem just more tinkering upgrades.

or maybe it isnt ready yet? trying to figure out with 10 tinks or need to start with "all new" weapons designed for gears and tinkers? or restricted to quest weapons? maybe the code were confused if first gear imbue were counted as imbued or first tinks?

anyway, i need to reread that last summer's Socketable topic.

Well, here it is, almost a month since I resubbed after 4 yrs out. It is absolutely...

Well, here it is, almost a month since I resubbed after 4 yrs out. It is absolutely terrific to play again, AC is still the best game I have ever played, but there is something I wanted to share with you. I dont expect this post to come to much, but I really wanted to share with you just how melancholy this whole experience is for me. A little background:

Back in the day I was the Monarch of a very successful and active allegiance. When that other game finally dragged the last of them over there I followed. That guild is still alive and kicking over there but we do a lot of remembering. We spend hours talking about the fun we had here, the people we met, the hours we spent just making friends and playing such a terrific game. So a small group of us decided to come back.

Coming back is never as good as it was the first time around so I was prepared for that. Most of us had already played for years and really I had planned to use my trial time to say hi to old friends. Never for a moment did I think I would end up subbing up. But I did. I am having a blast starting over and playing the game. And this is where my observation of a situation that I find truly sad comes in.

Our little band of returning players are trying so hard to play through this game, do the starter quests, enjoy the journey, not worry about what xp we are gaining per hour and how much xp we need to level. But we cant help but notice that we are in the minority. Every one around us is xp farming, leeching and UCMing right through all of the content that makes this game such a terrific place to be.

New players in this game will never know what it is like to run across the land, lost, truly lost, scared, but excited too, in wonder of the things he sees and encounters. Instead, they turn on an add on and follow the directions it gives. They will never spend hours and hours with a group of people in VOD dying and hiding from the TM, then deciding to kill him and dying all the while laughing all the way back to recover their corpse, because they are leeching xp in a grp while they sleep. They will never fill thier villa with items that they went out in search of for months, questing and working to get them, and so proud when they finally do because they can just take the house warming gifts and get back to the xp grind, Heck, they wont ever even feel the rush of having to work and wait for months for that villa.

Why? Because every one, and by every one I mean every one, is leeching, macroing, and handing xp to each other on a silver platter. In this last month I have already watched one person, new to the game, miss all of the quests that are some of the best quests in any game. He never made a composite bow after working for weeks to get the mats to build one. He didnt risk his life for the Elaniwood bow. He hasnt spent hours running around plateau looking for the skill credit. He has never worn Olthoi Armor or Mage Armor or seen BoBo or..... I can go on and on about what he is missing, but I think most of you know.

Some of us have chosen to play it through, do the quests, not worry about what lvl we are and just go have fun, just like we used to. But I can see even most of those people falling to the macro/leech fest that every one is participating in in the not so far off future. It is all just too much to ignore. It makes me so sad to see a new player completely miss what the very essence of this game is, but it makes me beyond sad to see us old skoolers, the people who do know what what it is like to truly play this game, feed into all of that.

Speaking of me, I am going to try to play the game despite it all. I am going to fill my villa with items that I quest for, I am going to build that perfect set of armor and tink it myself, I am going to get my recall spells, and my quest weapons to hang on my wall and run around the huge lake in the middle of the world and... heck...I am going to savor every second of AC while I am here, until the sadness over it all becomes too much to bear. To see a game as absolutey wonderful as this come to what amounts to the WoW gear grind except with xp instead is disappointing to say the least.

I implore all of you, to play the game. Roll a new char and go back through the content that makes this game stand out from the crowd. Go do those things that you so fondly remember. At least let other people do it. Encourage new players to really feel AC, the way we all did so many years ago. Dont let it all get ruined over the chase for xp. This game is too good for that.

There will never be a game that can do to a person what this one did to so many of us. Every person I have ever spoken to who has played it claims it is the best game they have ever played. Every one that I mention AC to who has played it and no longer does wells up a little as we remember the times we had in this game. AC is special, it is unique, it is an experience I, and many others, will never ever forget. I just hope I dont regret coming back for a trip down memory lane which is quickly becoming a trip down Leech and Macro Road.

Thank you for letting me state my piecce. Ultimately, I will never be sorry I played this game and I will always remember it fondly regardless of how things turn out this time. I leave you with this, this is the story of the heart and soul that went into this game. When you read it you will understand why this is the best game ever developed.
Who? Anyone 151+ who can follow directions and has enough DIs for a potentially unrecoverable death
Why? Mukkir Slayer gem, Black Spear of Mukkir Strength housing item (or XP), Slayer of the Black Spear title, a random rare, XP
How? Quest Guide

Expect the quest to last about 2 hours, depending on group size and how well people follow instructions.

What? Undead Slayer (Lunnum's Defilement)
When? Saturday, November 22, 8 PM ET (5 PM PDT, 1 AM GMT)
Where? SW MP
Flagging is now unnecessary, so don't even bother! We'll be starting with Numy's basement and then defeating Lunnum, so it should be pretty straightforward.
