Turbine folks walking for Multiple Sclerosis!

Spring is in the air, birds are singing, flowers are budding, the snow has melted – which can only mean one thing, it’s time for the annual MS Walk in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on April 23rd!

A group of Turbies including LOTRO’s Vice-Cardinal Nik “MithrilMiser” Davidson, DDO’s Genius Child-Thing Jesse “devilmouse” Kurlancheek, Heather Sinclair and AC1’s Pontifex-Yokozuna Dave "Crowley" Javier will be piling into a car and making the the 7 hour long drive to join our friend and longtime Turbine fan Shawn “Kwip” Williams on team NeenerNeener.net!

It’s a good cause and a lot of fun. I have also put in a request that pictures from the event be brought back so we can have some good laughs. If you are in the area you can just show up, or if you want more information click here.

My g/f's mom has MS unfortunately. Recently, she was in the hospital for other pains, but the MS didn't help. Lancaster is a bit far from where I am in NJ, lol. NJ has one too.

You should walk against Multiple Sclerosis, not for it.

Re: Turbine folks walking for Multiple Sclerosis!

For giggles, go through each reponse, and when "MS" shows up, say in your mind (or outloud like I do here at work) "Microsoft".

Ex.

Original:
"My Grandma suffered from MS, this is awesome good luck to you all it is a great cause."

Real Life:
"My Grandma suffered from Microsoft, this is awesome good luck to you all it is a great cause."

The funny thing is, I saw no one from Turbine walking to help raise funds for the homeless and disaster relief of Tufa and Yanshi years back. Maybe because the disease MS (Microsoft) was plaguing many employees?

I'm proud to say that I lick breast cancer.

God I love that commercial.

Re: Turbine folks walking for Multiple Sclerosis!

I have a rare brain condition that acts a lot like MS and as it turns out so did a lot of MS patients. Before the invention of the MRI they figure something like 30% of MS patients were misdiagnosed and actually had what I have (which can only be seen with an MRI). Its called Arnold Chiari Malformation (ACM) and bringing awareness to MS brings more awareness to this rare brain condition and makes it easier to diagnose it properly. So in your efforts to support MS research etc you are in effect helping people with my condition as well. So, on behalf of myself and all ACMers worldwide THANKS TURBINE!!!!

How come people just dont donate money instead instead of walking.

Walking doesnt solve much or find cures.

I think it's fantastic that you guys did this!

I've been reading Kwip's site for a few years now, and I love the AC stories!

The Walking takes place with fund-raising - ie, walkers get people to donate money to them to 'sponsor' them on their walking.

It's easy to just say, "Hey, give me money for a good cause!" and a lot of times, that's exactly what happens. But taking the time to get together with people that believe in the same thing, to actually get up off the couch and possibly even break a sweat, gives you a feeling of doing *something.* Sure, in the grand scheme of things, merely walking four miles doesn't really amount to anything. It's not going to find a cure, it's not making someone with MS feel better (although I would argue the benefits of walk as exercise, but that's an entirely different discussion). Walking is a chance to say, "Hey, this is a cause I believe in so much that I'm willing to get up and go!"

It's a chance to feel like you're doing -something- against a disease that has ruined so many lives. And it's a great opportunity to surround yourself with friends and family (and a lot of new friends!) that are willing to do the same thing for a cure.

Plus, if you're on a really cool team, it's entirely possible they'll rock out the night before with some awesome guitar hero action...

Re: Turbine folks walking for Multiple Sclerosis!

Well, in that case, we should all walk for Asheron's Call. Get some money donated and give it to the Devs because apparently they lack funding to put this game in the right direction.
