Weekly Update 4/24/06
Hello there everyone. Let’s get right into this weeks update.
I wanted to start this week with an update on the CD Keys/Digital Distribution situation. Let me reiterate that we want these keys out as fast as we can get them out. After much internal debate over the last week or so (office speak for a lot of meetings) the issue has been placed at the top of the priority list. This means that alot sooner rather than later this issue will be fixed. This time I will not give an ETA, but I will say that my confidence that this issue is going to get resolved quickly is very high. This is the way I like to start off my week, things are getting done.
Now lets move on to some other things that are happening this week in Asheron’s Call.
The live events have been continuing on schedule. We have been reading your feedback and doing some adjustments on the fly. Overall the feedback on these events has been positive, and it seems we have a lot of players choosing sides, and taking their choices very seriously. Look for these events to continue and evolve as time goes on. We are already planning some more fun events for the future.
This week the team is busily working on the content for the May event. We are already at the point where most of the content has been loaded on our internal test world, and the team is now working on getting things to where they want them to be. This includes creature balance, NPC/Dungeon locations, lore details and more. This is what we consider one of the busier weeks in the development cycle.
Finally, we want to let you know that next week we will be posting a much more detailed description of the upcoming Allegiance Improvements that were hinted at in the last Letter to the Players. Our goal with these changes is to make the experience of being in an allegiance, a more memorable one. Monarchs, do you want to give more power to your allegiance officers? Done. Want to give your Monarchy its own unique name? Done. Those features are just a hint at what is coming for allegiances in the May event. We will have more for you next week.
That’s about it for now. Everyone have a great day and see you all in Dereth!

Frelorn,
I'm glad to hear about monarchy names. PLEASE allow us to use your intellectual property (ie, Asheron, Elysa, Dereth, etc) in our names! AC2's monarchy naming system had restrictions on those kinds of things and it was quite irritating.

Sounds like the active guild members need to stage a rebellion and create a guild of their own.

Re: Weekly Update 4/24/06
I subbed my monarch's account for months after he moved to avoid this problem
Online CD keys are good I'll probably buy laton one when that is ready.
How will the purchase work? Will there be a free month? Can i buy the key and give the text to someone else to use on their account or will it be an upgrade account button in account info of the billing site?

I don't have all the details yet. When things are ready we will update the FAQ for getting the game to include answers to these and other questions.

Re: Weekly Update 4/24/06
LoL about the rebellion. A fellow member had tried to usurp the potition but my monarch held fast. I've been trying to get him in game more with explaining to everyone on our website about the live events and such

Re: Weekly Update 4/24/06
Frely , what happened to your weekly questions and answers?
I know ya guys are working hard and appreicate your updates. Speaking just for myself , why all the trivial tid bits about the staging procedure? Think most have a grasp on how ya guys work by now.
Id love ta see ya tackle some of the more posted on threads. Maybe an update on the runed weapons or what ya think of some of the points brought up there? Maybe casino updates? How silly ya think NPC's with writs for purchase are? OR hey bobocopy great detailed post on changes but this is what where thinking........

Re: Weekly Update 4/24/06
Frelorn, we didn't want the officers to have MORE power (right now they have all the power of a monarch BUT the ability to change housing stuff) - we wanted the ability to have TIERS as originally discussed some time ago - with perhaps a "speaker" type of officer, another tier with more abilities and perhaps the top tier similar to what it is now.
I still think, however, it would be a great idea to re-introduce player advocates of some sort. A lot of chat on the global channels has gotten WAY out of hand and if there were player advocates to address the issues, perhaps the Envoys would have some of the load taken off their shoulders. Is there ANY chance at all of this honestly being considered? I don't know about other players, but it bothers me to hear someone casually talking about beating women or such on the global channels - NO filter will get rid of that - and it is why many of us now do not even attempt to use these channels. A lot of this garbage comes from the pkl set - why not make a global "Player Killer" channel where these foul mouths can go to insult each other?

Please wait until I have given you the details of what is going in for the allegiance changes. This is something that is being done. Please do not jump to conclusions before you know the facts.

As many have said in the past, due to issues brought up a long time ago with another comapny, this is not an option. Unless people are paid equal compensation for thier time, contract or not, legal issues can become a problem.
