Composite Crossbow with Exquisite Handle only has 360 spellcraft?

After killing VoD Griewwers and Violators to get the highest handle, one would think it could be used on similar high level creatures. All the VOD Shadows/Undead with shields resist the Tattercoat spell, even when I toss Futility on them.

Was it suppose to be 460 spellcraft and someone mistyped the code maybe?

I find that a bit wierd as well.

Once you have 355 base bow, nearly every monster will have a LOT more magicD than 360.

Besides that, I like the bow a lot

A 150% +10 AR Bow will beat it (because the bow has a weaker AR), but not by much.

But you can use the composite bow for every element, so that saves a lot of burden

Ouch, I hope that is an accident.

The Princely xbow was completely worthless for its spell due to it being like 350.
The Royal xbow is pretty good with its 400 something. It often lands on VOD critters.

Please let us know if this is an error and will be corrected.

Otherwise, It is just another house hook item.

The spell was intended to hit the appropriate level creatures. I'll look into raising the spellcraft on the highest level bow and xbow. No guarantees of course, but I'll make sure that it will hit the majority of the creatures it was intended to be used against. Thanks for the feedback!

I think most people reach 355 base skill around level 130, so it should be able to hit on creatures of that level reliable in my opinion.

Since the royal weapons have a spellcraft of 450 and are for level 140+, how about 435 spellcraft on the 355 tier?

Even when dealing with the Royal Xbow, sometimes it can get dicey when you keep hoping that the spell will cast on the critter.

Getting several evades after it has held off casting in the first place does not give one the warm fuzzies towards the weapon. A lot of this is due to the lower damage done by these weapons compared to an imbued weapon prior to the spells sticking.

Thanks speed! Shield-wielding creatures are the only thing that tattercoat needs to land on, and the ones that pop up are Void Knights, Shadow Spectres (I think, there's so many different ones) the Chimera undead, and the VoD Tummies, whatever they're called. None of these creatures are higher in level than a Griewwer Violator, found in the highest level of the Ancient Caves.

I have a 315 base Bowyer and was able to create the low level update.

The bow as a bow is really nice. Good damage and nice stats.

The bow as a magic assist is pretty much worthless.

1. Brittlemail - not a lot of critters have shields.

2. The level of the magic - 250 - against the normal critters I attack - level 73 bowyer against level 80-100 Undead. The Brittlemail never lands - it is always resisted.

I have the Exquisite handled composite crossbow and I've Tattercoat land on a couple of Dark Isle shadows (including a boss). Maybe I just got lucky? I've only seen two with shields, and it landed on both.

That being said, 360 spellcraft on a bow/crossbow meant to be used on VoD and above creatures is just silly.

All this does not mean I am not thankful for the composite crossbow upgrade -- it's a very useful weapon, especially on the Dark Isle.

I still have problems with the shadow boss at 445 war, so I usually try to yield it first.

I would guess that their magicD is around 420.
