!!! Did Turbine surreptitiously update the Atlan Stones quests without telling us?
The new NPC for the elemental hunting quest also offers to take any elemental-related rewards you find in the process. People have found elemental stones dropping off monsters (Crystal of Fiery Elemental Essence, etc.) that you can turn in.
These crystals have the exact same icon as the Atlan stones.
And given his deliberately vague quest text, wouldn't it make sense if you could turn the Atlan stones as well?
I am operating under the sneaking suspicion there are more things we can turn into this guy than just the obvious.
If anyone wants to test some of this out and let us know, that'd be awesome.

Thanks for the heads-up. I will hunt a few elementals and see what they drop. Thanks again.

Would be neat if you could apply the elemental essences to Atlan weaponry to make higher tier weapons.

Re: !!! Did Turbine surreptitiously update the Atlan Stones quests without telling us
I tried turning in the major fire stone. he didn't except it. I'm guessing he won't take any other atlan stones. I was thinking of trying the crystal pieces from the helm of the elements quest but I never got around to it.

Really? Aww.
If only Turbine could make the major and minor stones XP turn-ins to the new NPC, it'd breathe new life into some fun but underused quests... Pretty please, guys?

Re: !!! Did Turbine surreptitiously update the Atlan Stones quests without telling us
I was thinking the same thing. He could except all the major and minor atlan stones (maybe not pris. stone... one time only quest right?) the craftable prism fragment of fire/ice/acid/elec, maybe the finished helm of the elements, and also... The ice tashi, acid axe, hammer of lightning, and banderling fire weapons the quarterstaff of fire and fire spear. He could even take the fiery shield, fire auroch meet... any trophy smith items that do elemental damage (golem jo, golem mace, auroch spear), sword/dagger of frozen fury.
This NPC would be perfect for recycling old quests and making them worth some exp.

As Zahir makes progress in his studies and secures more funding for his work he may start branching out to study various items of elemental power.
The Atlan stones would be a good next step in the right direction for his research.

Django ftw...Just a tip for future non-serious patches, we need more updates then are spoken of. That way, people work hard to get the new stuff....
For example, rare notes dropping off certian creatures detailing of a new quest.

It's 4:30 here in Japan, and I should really get to bed, but man, I'm giddy. My quests-only character is just getting up to the level where he can tackle the vaults.

Re: !!! Did Turbine surreptitiously update the Atlan Stones quests without telling us?
interested because of this quest, i went out and i did the kill task, i got all the Crystal stones from all the 4 elements i tured them in and i got some xp. I then hand him a major acid stone, and he wont accept it. Did i do something wrong. I thought Atlan Stones were a good next step?

Ministry, what I think he means is that in upcoming patches we'll likely see more items added to the list of what Zahir will accept.
After all, if you want to take it that literally... you'll have to drop a stack of 100 MMD's on Zahir first to fund his research.

Re: !!! Did Turbine surreptitiously update the Atlan Stones quests without telling us?
If the devs outright say "X will happen", any number of outside circumstances could cause their plans to change and then the boards will crucify them.
Besides, it's more fun when they use some flavor. Anyone remember the five-years-or-so ago tradition of explaining really strange bugs (like shrubbery turning invisible for a month) with the phrase "Dereth is full of wonders!"?
