You're looking at a nickle and thinking thats all your change, what you don't see is that the nickle is simply what fell out of the cashiers hand, there's still plenty of change we have no information on, so basing your opinion on the patch (that its going to suck) with such little information is illogical, analyze it, but keep in mind more is to come, you apparently are not doing the 2nd step.

Like I said ... I actually like the idea of questing for it. They have said as much.
EDIT - And again ... look 2 posts up and you have a person claiming we're being forced to group for the items. It's one of the few things to be confirmed:

But no .. people go back to threatening to cancel their many subs, tell all their friends etc etc.

As for the rest of this... lots of over-reacting. Giving your opinion is one thing, screaming over and over that this is the end of the world is another.

The following is a quote from release notes for The Beast With Many Heads Patch of 02/08.
"Assembling your magic spells will also take some economy management. Spell scrolls will no longer be found in chests. Instead, you’ll get to craft them yourselves, using four different types of components. Some will be found in loot, some…well, you’ll find out where those will be found soon enough. It’s important to note that these tradeable components will be multi-use – you might use a Glyph of Corrosion to create an Incantation of Acid Blast or an Incantation of Acid Lure. Either way, you’ll have two options on how to get these spells – looting the components yourself or trading for the components or scrolls you want. It’s a way of introducing a smaller version of spell research while still making it accessible for those who don’t want to bother."
End Quote
Spell Scrolls will no longer be found in chests anymore. Since the level 8 spells are not out yet, they are not talking about level 8 spells, but at least level 7 and maybe 1 thru 6. Also Notice that Acid Lure and Acid Blast sound alot like the level 1 thru level 6 spells.

Re: 100th Patch, New Teirs, etc
This thread has been great. People giving feedback and everyone has been keeping the discussion civil. This is the kind of feedback we like to see.
Based on the feedback we have received in this thread, the team has decided to make this new tier of loot available in one form or another on landscape hunting.
One of the ways we are looking at doing this is to use the Direland Champions mechanics. So that players who like to outdoor hunt would have a random chance of spawning a "Boss Creature" which would then either have this new profile or a key that would allow a pull on one of the new chests. This is of course, not set in stone, and we may go with another way of doing this, which we will explain when we begin releasing all of the information on the 100th update.
We are still working on the exact details since this decision was just made, but we feel this will make sure that almost every possible playstyle will be included.

Yes. And then they posted that it would only be level 8s. At the bottom of this:

This will only be the case for the new level 8 spells.

Yes, but the same 10-15 minute quest every day? That's not really fun. If it's all quest based, they need to figure out a way to make questing dynamic. Like something like a solo coliseum would be pretty neat. On the other hand, delivering a message to someone in Nanto, then running to a dungeon outside Glendon Woods to flip a couple of levers and ultimately click on a Loot Tier 8 altar for a key every 24 hours.. not so much honestly.

I would never cancel over it, but at the same time, I also have faith in Turbine and that they will make the right choices.

Re: 100th Patch, New Teirs, etc
Yes, thank you very much for listening to our perceived fears of the perceived upcoming changes. I must admit I was beginning to get down thinking that the new tier would only be available on timed content, but like a rollercoaster, I'm back to excited again.
You will meet with great success if you are indeed able to keep it to landscape only spawn, and that which is very difficult/impossible to macro. The loot gen is probably the biggest reasons I play, evey if my take is dwarfed by automation.
Thanks again for listening.

Great start, not a bad idea. Still, it's a bit more "exclusive" than I would like to see; meaning we're still talking about a single type of monster dropping a key and or loot every time. Yes, it can spawn from say any outdoor spawn (perhaps), but that is still just one entity. Even if EXTREMELY low, the chance for a single tier 8 to be mixed in with other tiers based on current loot profiles will still be desirable and should be considered. But in any case, thanks to all involved with this thread and over at Turbine for taking this crown jewel of AC and it's integrity seriously.

Re: 100th Patch, New Teirs, etc
I guess those quests you put in won't be used after all.
Maybe a reason to hunt direlands again.
