I am also getting the same error on my wife's account (account name <edit>). However, I apparently can't log into the forums on that account.

I am receiving the "Authentication Failed. Please Try Again Later." error now. I upgraded my Lotro account with the Adventurer's Pack since the last time I logged into Asheron's Call, which was Tuesday.
I appreciate any help.

Okay, so I wanted to come back and see what was up in the world of AC, and it's been a nightmare trying to get this to work.
First I was unable to renew my account via the billing system, that random 40001 error or whatever. I e-mailed support *four months ago* and they told me to call phone support (making me wonder why e-mail support exists in the first place). But I'd have to call during hours which are usually impractical for me. Great. It's also ridiculous that people with this problem can't even sign into the forum to post the problem their having. I bet the thread for that error would be massively larger if the people having that problem *were allowed to post*.
Well now I came back to try again and hit the same problem. No response to my help ticket, so I tried something different and put in a 14-day free trial key. This seemed to fix my billing account and let me renew the subscription. Great!
Then I downloaded and installed the game, and now I'm hitting this "Authentication Failed. Please try again later" message. I have a LOTRO lifetime account which I recently added the Adventurer's Pack stuff to, and it sounds like that may be related.
Can someone help resolve this issue? Thanks.

Everyone, please note that this post is specifically for the Authentication Failed error. We are aware of this problem, and are working to fix it, but have a work around in the mean time for individual accounts.
Players experiencing 40001 can call or email Account Management for assistance. We are also working on a fix for this for all accounts. However we do have a fix for individual accounts at this time.

I recently had this problem, and besides the insane hours available to call tech support, you get locked out of the forum when you have the 40001 error. I think these things could be solved much more quickly if people werent locked out, its kinda silly after all, to ban people from the place they are supposed to get help from... yes?
