Re: Throne of Destiny Weekly Status Update: 5/18

> QA Coordinator isn't the same as QA Lead, but that's not the point, right? Honestly?

We both know how long I've been commenting on the lackluster performance of the QA staff which probably predates everyone employed on the current AC staff so I'm not going to tread over this compacted soil again. I've got enough trouble with enviromental issues getting the permits for effigy burning, even virtually speaking.

It is both the point and not the point at the same time. It doesn't really matter if he was coordinating the QA with the devs or had a more managerial control over the QA staff the end result was the same. Delay on top of delay because of the ground I've worn barren.

> If you want to burn anyone in effigy, burning Darren is the wrong way to go.

There is no such thing as a wrong way to burn someone in effigy. That's effigy 101. Or was it the philosphy of effigy. It's been so long. He had a part in it and we don't want him to feel left out. We are an angry, but fair, mob. So we will likely get Scenario a bit singed too for the same reason.

> Burn the rest of us for not agreeing with his time estimates sooner. This is why we made him Producer -- because his schedules and estimates were proven correct.

My track record is likely equal if not better and I didn't even get an invite to a beta. Now I really feel snubbed. But I digress. What outside of hubris prevented you from listening to him in the first place? What is being done to address the problems that lead us to this conversation now? While finally listening to the guy who schedules around the problem is clearly a step forward the right step to make is to fix the source of the problem.

The source of the problem wasn't poor scheduling it was poor testing. When you said you couldn't ship a buggy project and those bugs were found in a closed beta it means just that. There were problems that, as Jessica put it, your internal testing procedures failed to do what they are supposed to do because they were "too close" or something like that. Again. Boy, this ground really look familiar and well used.

> Hey, if you want to burn someone in effigy, please feel free to burn me. It's why I'm here

Did you really thing you weren't on the list? We've planned so much virtual wood for your effigy BBQ that I've had to break up a few soapboxes or risk unrecoverable deforestation of the virtual habitat.

Re: Throne of Destiny Weekly Status Update: 5/18

Some of you people seem to be beyond help.

Every time I log onto this site it's the same thing. Arguing and insults.

The worlds have 280-340 on now at 8:00pm EST.

Those who had problems with AC, you were right in a way. Does that not satisfy you? What point do you have in calling people liars and making post after post after post after post arguing over and over and over again? Do you just enjoy dancing around the flaming wreckage? Enjoy goading the Turbine people who post here? Or do you actually think you're some valiant person who will salvage this by insulting others?

I won't say that the people here who voice their grievances and concerns are wrong. Most are actually right in thier cause for complaint or at least have a point.

I just don't understand the constant need to shove people's nose in crap I will go so far to say that it lacks class and will bear no fruit.

Now, I hope that I'm wrong. I hope all this animosity leads to sweeping changes and that AC will again flourish somewhat but I see the constant complaining and persistant flaming that happens here as nothing more then death throes.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong ...

One often leads to the other. Got a schedule, pressure is to meet the schedule, and perhaps some testing isn't done to the degree that you wish (okay it compiled and I can log in, we need to go on to meet the schedule).

The Standish Group has a 1994 paper that is worth reading . That is a link to a PDF file.

Oh no... you're not getting away with that one. We know that by now you've perfected your "fire proof armor."

Just wanted to throw in my two cents worth and thank Ibn and all for the updates.

While everyone has an opinion and patience is not always the easiest pill to digest, I for one feel Turbine goes out of their way to maintain realistic and timely information to their customer base. I applaud their efforts at not only maintaining contact with their customers but their desire to listen and consider customer input and feedback. It speaks well not merely of the company but of the many people within the organization.

So keep up the good work and looking forward to July's launch.

Possible less cumbersome work arounds.

Certain critters worth 1000x normal xp.
Differing faster version of DT's levers.
Copy the level reward for the outages but repeatable.

Scenario,

If you don't want to join the pyre, you may want to find a way to work in a "Burning Effigy" into the landscape some place...

Ibn,

For those that play those "Class" based games, you are the tank, it's your job to stand there and take the punishment while the rest hide behind you doing their things (and hopefully tossing a few heals your way)... so no, we will not burn you until last the soft targets in the back get blasted first...

Ok, Ok, enough joking around...

Thanks for the Update Ibn, please try to keep it up as best you can...

(Start the Mission Impossible music now)

Your next mission, get access to the pre-order/ToD X-Pac for the Non-US, Non-EU folks...

Personally, I could care less. I'm tired of trying to help Turbine. I feel it's truly futile to do so. They're gonna do whatev it is that's gonna bring them money, and that doesn't seem to coincide with improving what a lot of us would like to have done.

I've learned not to hold my breath, as everything said by Turbine should have a "sooner rather than later" after it.

I'm not surprised that with the homepage update of Turbine's they got rid of the FAQ portion relating to issues that haven been resolved for 18+ months. Another concern just swept under the rug. Sadly, it's the norm rather than the rareity.

I got tired of getting strung along.
