Repeatable 2H bug

There have been a few posts here about 2H hitting some very strange things with cleave. Until now, that has just cause me to hit one target at a time instead of two, a true bug and very annoying but bearable.

In the center of the top level of the 70+ crag dungeon, the little room with the exploration marker, I can't hit even my target. I'll get four "You attack hit: pressure plate!" and no damage on the creatures at all.

I can understand what's happening normally, and that it could be a tricky bug to fix. (Or stupidly easy. I don't know your code.) Normal shutdown of cleave can just go down with all of the other bugs still in game after all of these years, such as melees needing to jump when stuck on a target or missile needing to watch for their avatars being complete idiots who think their missile weapons turned into melee weapons and rushing the target.

Not hitting even the *primary* target, however, is not acceptable. Please fix this as soon as possible.

I expect the normal board naysayers to pipe in with "perhaps there shouldn't be enough room in there to swing that big honking weapon." (Yes, they will to a person say "honking.") My response is that we already have a dynamic for that. Ask any melee who's been pressed into a corner: not enough room to swing happens a lot. In this case, I certainly am swinging my weapon, just hitting two pressure plates and not my highlighted target. If I shouldn't have *room* then make it so. The bug I describe would work no matter how tight or open the room was as long as two pressure plates were in my swing zone.

Re: Repeatable 2H bug

Your attack struck: Cave-In Action Playset Gen!!

I was in the middle of a room in East Fork Dam attacking a wisp and two olthoi.

Your location is: 0x027F0200 [66.137390 -43.295956 -5.995000] -0.720324 0.000000 0.000000 -0.693638

I couldn't hit the olthoi (non-primary target) because of the rubble on the ground.

Earlier I was hitting doors instead of olthoi, who were right next to the door.

I've also missed my primary target, but still cleaved. GY rats had this happen. Seemed like a player-to-target distance issue. I may get better info as I play around with it.

This is already fixed internally, you'll see the fix in our bug patch release which is coming out... soonish.

This is not fixed internally; if some creatures get between you and your target there is a chance you will cleave them instead. This isn't by design; I just ran out of time for our bug fix release and this behavior doesn't have the same priority as the annoying bug where your attacks are used up on decorations and dungeon objects.

2-handed should work as a replacement for lock picking too imo.

But I liked using 2-handed cleaving weapons to detect traps!

Lockpick skill should be used to offset the spellcraft of a trap! I'd like to be able to spot or resist traps with my lockpicking skill.

Or maybe a gem like the one used for ghost hunting that would make traps glow/disable temporarily.

That is intended. The two handed weapons are double hit weapons (the first two) and they cleave nearby targets. (the second two)
